Comedy is an art form. TuRae, (pronounced too -ray ) truly believes that.
Beginning his comedy career at Temple University in the late 90's, the former campus personality was invited to an open mic by friends. After winning the cash prize, TuRae declared himself “allergic to a job ”and pursued stages beyond campus. Landing a steady hosting spot at a local club called the Laff House, TuRae was able to use his life experiences as a neighborhood geek (and failed basketball star), to fuel his reflections on urban life.
TuRae readily invites audiences to his world, as he graciously pokes fun at theirs. The native Philadelphian has been able to hold his own on the stage along side great comedians like Cedric the Entertainer and Dom Irerra. He's also opened shows for music legends Gil Scot-Heron, Patti Labelle, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Teena Marie and Alicia Keys. Great performances along the way have fueled the demand for this comedian both here and abroad. Most recently TuRae traveled to England to represent his country and win the World Cup of Comedy Clash at London’s Hackney Empire Theatre.
With a bright future and endless motivation, TuRae will be a truly entertaining comic and engaging personality for years to come.
