Elizabeth Tryon transcends easy categorization. Accepted into the prestigious Indiana University School of Music at eighteen years old, Tryon began her career as a professional classical singer. She performed as the youngest member of Mid-America Productions’ opera tour of Athens and the Greek Islands; as a soloist at Opera of the Hamptons alongside Metropolitan Opera singers; as the vocalist at the Noah’s Ark Suite Premier at The Lighthouse Theatre, and in other classical venues.
But Tryon is also a pop songwriter. She dreamt of becoming a pop / classical artist, in the style of Josh Groban. And so, without any connections in the pop music world, Tryon brought her original songs to Grammy winning producer Scott Jacoby (John Legend) and music industry veteran Anthony Resta (Elton John, Blondie). Both readily agreed to produce her debut album From Elizabeth, which runs the spectrum from genuine pop songs to classical music and, finally, into a full flowering of opera at the very end.
Tryon’s pop music is the real thing: her song “Fire Inside” broke the Top 10 on the FMQB AC National Radio Chart, and has been made into a music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK4e9hbeQNc
Her songs “Gift” and “Dancing Girl” also charted highly, and “You’re Still Mine” was chosen as the soundtrack for an Armed Forces tribute video. And yet, when fans get a taste of Tryon’s beautiful classical singing, she magically morphs -- before their very ears -- into a kind of good will ambassador for the classical side of music.
In her live shows, Tryon effortlessly weaves Broadway, pop, and opera together, all the while somehow managing to incorporate a healthy dose of humor, perhaps as a result of having performed improvisational comedy professionally while a college student.
One of the most unique artists to come along in a good while, the sky is truly the limit for Tryon and her beautiful music.
