Marty Grimes grew up in Etna, a tiny farming town in Northern California, where he learned all the important lessons of life, such as, “Ain’t nobody can rope a pig,” and “City slickers are freaky.” That second lesson sounded pretty good to him, so Marty headed down to the San Francisco Bay Area where he was matriculated, educated, graduated and desecrated. Instead of starting his comedy career then, as he should have, he spent several years staring at a computer monitor for eight hours a day. Marty began to unlock his creative side after work with his witty blog entries, adding another two hours of computer monitor staring to his daily routine. Blogging proved to be lucrative--for lots of people other than Marty--so he brought his humorous musings to the comedy stage. Since then, he's established himself as the Big Gay of the South Bay where he placed second in the Rooster T. Feathers comedy competition in his first year of stand-up. He has performed at the Ice House, the San Francisco Punch Line, San Jose Improv, and the legendary Purple Onion. He was accepted into the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival in 2010. In 2009, he was one of the “boys” in Marga Gomez’s Marga and the Boys Gay Pride show. He competed in the 2009 New York Comedy Competition, and was a semi-finalist in the 2009 Great Canadian Laugh Off in Toronto, where they totally get him. Even straight men find themselves amused and strangely aroused by this gay guy who doesn't quite fit the mold.
