Heather Parris is “In the Flow” and thrilled to be working on her second recording project. This time around she will feature all new jazz tunes written by composer Bruce Torff. The songs will be premiered at The Metropolitan Room in NYC this Spring. The original and fresh sound of Mr. Torff’s songs paired with the smooth, powerful vocals of Heather Parris are a match made in jazz heaven. Heather recorded her first demo “No Moon at All” last year, a sophisticated, relaxing mix of jazz standards that gave listeners a chance to hear Heather’s softer side. Heather performs regularly in the New York City area as a solo artist and can also be seen as the vocalist in her jazz ensemble Bebop Holiday with pianist Frank Doyle. In the earlier part of her career, she performed in regional theater and non-union films, as well as appearing in jazz and cabaret venues such as Don’t Tell Mama’s and The Village Gate. While raising a family and completing her degree at Queens College, CUNY, she studied acting and voice with Susan Einhorn. She went on to receive her Masters Degree in Education. She studied jazz vocals with voice coach Heidi Hepler. Listeners have described her voice as “smooth, and sexy, with just a touch of broadway bravado.” She embodies the songs she sings, staying true to the lyric and breathing life into the story of the piece. These qualities have generated a respectable, loyal following at the clubs where she regularly appears.
