Gibran Saleem was born in North Carolina and raised in Virginia in a Pakistani household. He started comedy while attending graduate school at New York University. While attending school he was individually handpicked as an MVP nominee on the national TBS Rooftop Comedy College Competition and was a 2-time recipient of the UCB diversity scholarship.
Since then Gibran has been featured on MTV, Popcorn Flix, PBS, CUNY TV, VOA, Elite Daily, Cosmopolitan and performed his stand-up television debut on Gotham Comedy Live for AXS TV. Gibran was the focus of an international documentary on NHK TV called Asian Dreamers: Brown is Funny. He has been featured nationally in the prestigious New York Comedy Festival, Brooklyn Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival, Limestone Festival in Bloomington, Indiana, Out of Bounds Festival in Austin, Texas, The Big Sky Festival in Billings, Montana, Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta, Georgia and won 1st place in the Hoboken Comedy Festival.
This past year Gibran was selected to be a finalist for the StandUp NBC nationwide talent search and was 1 of 6 individuals selected out of over 1,000 submissions to be a part of the exclusive NBC Universal Late Night TV Writer’s Workshop. Gibran is the only comedain to ever be selected for both the NBC Writing and Stand Up competition. Gibran was recently featured as part of MTV's #BeyondtheWall campaign for the 2016 election and is touring nationally at colleges across the US. When he’s not travelling all over the place, you can find Gibran performing locally in New York City while his own original series in is development.
