It has finally happened. Howl the Archer, Who's Clayton, and Micaela Martinez unite at the Ice House for their first ever live show together. Though the three leaders of these acoustic groups hail from Cal State Fullerton, their styles range from opposite ends of the musical spectrum.
Micaela Martinez began playing piano at the age of 10. Inspired most by artists like Sara Bareilles and Adele, she has found a way to make some of the best and worst experiences in her life into beautiful, vulnerable, heartfelt music. Accompanying her will be Alyssa Simmons on guitar and vocals, and Darryl Black of Who's Clayton on violin.
Who's Clayton formed in March of 2012 in Fullerton, California. Their feel-good groove coupled with Kevin Rose's invincible vocals (not to mention the angelic harmonies of Josh Elmore) can be described as “if Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, and Mumford & Sons had a musical love child...and gave it a violin” ...a violin masterfully played by Darryl Black.
Gasper Spinosa began writing under the byname “Howl the Archer” in January of 2012. Blending the alternative acoustic genre with elements of punk rock (inspired by Say Anything, Coheed & Cambria, and The Postal Service), Howl's fierce lyrics contrasted by his wistful music paints the tale of “a villain's attempted ascent to heroism.”
