Since bursting onto to the NYC comedy scene in 2004, Erik Rivera's name has become synonymous with comedy. His “boy next door” good looks and unique perspective make him one of New York's fastest rising young comedians. His quick wit along with his commanding stage presence, charisma and infectious smile make him a favorite act at comedy clubs and colleges throughout the country.
Erik is one of the most requested comedians on both coasts; when in New York he can be found nightly at the Comedy Cellar, The Comic Strip Live, Comix, Broadway Comedy Club and in Los Angeles he calls the Laugh Factory, The Ice House and the Hollywood Improv his comedy homes.
Erik’s star is quickly rising! Recently, Eva Longoria Parker's production company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment took notice of Erik's talent and approached him about producing a sitcom based on his comedy. LATV’s American Latino, which highlights accomplished Latinos in the community, will feature him this season as they document his rise to fame. Rivera is a familiar face all over several cable networks as he has appeared numerous times on SiTV, Comedy Central and most recently on MTV Tr3s. Erik also starred in the feature film Stand Up 360 along with Caroline Rhea, released in theaters across the country. In addition, he was selected to host their Latino film series, Stand Up 360 Muy Caliente! Rivera has also appeared in two independent features, My Brother and Stand Up, by award winning director Michael Rainin. Erik wrote and directed his first award-winning short film, The Cyclist last year featuring fellow comedians Ross Bennett and Imagine.
Erik continues to tour colleges and universities nationwide. He also had the privilege of being selected this year, by NBC from a nationwide search to represent their network’s Stand-Up for Diversity College Tour!
When not touring or acting, Rivera is one of the most requested young Latinos working today. During the 2009 Holiday season, he served as the spokesperson for Duracell SmartPower Lab in Times Square, interviewing celebrities from Justin Bieber to Academy Award nominated Gabourey Sidibe. The SmartPower Lab used human power to light the 2010 numeral during the world famous New Year's Eve festivities. In February of 2010, The National Hispanic Media Coalition invited Erik to be their special guest performer at their annual Impact Awards Gala, which honored Oscar Nunez (The Office) and Rico Rodriguez (Modern Family). He has also appeared at The Latino Laugh Festival along side Carlos Mencia to a packed house at The Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. In both 2008 and 2009, Erik was honored to be the only comedian to perform two consecutive years for The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC.
When not touring the country. Erik calls both New York City and Los Angeles home
