Mauricio Herrera:

Mauricio Herrera, Finalist on AMERICA'S GOT TALENT 2011, as seen Featured on NBC4 Channel News Los Angeles, “E” Entertainment News, Entertainment Tonight, The Talk, Extra TV and many more...

Having been seen and admired by over 98 MILLION PEOPLE on the 7 times he was on America's Got Talent last Season (Average of 14 Million per episode) & with over 195.000 Fans on his Social Networks; Mauricio Herrera began entertaining at the age of 5, performing anywhere and everywhere he was invited, always with the support and encouragement ofhis father. Over the course of his lifetime, Mauricio has built a solid career as a Singer, Showman, Talk Show TV Host, and over all Entertainer with a following and fan base which spans not only North America but to Central & South America as well.
Originally from Orange, California, this virtual one-man entertainment machine known as Mauricio rose from humble beginnings to become the rising Super Star that he is today. However, it was his family’s decision to return to their native Costa Rica that allowed his musical talent and career to really blossom and begin to pave the way to the success he has achieved to date.

High school years consisted not only of conventional studies, but also participation in numerous singing festivals, and musical activities including televised events. An inherent connection with live audiences combined with his on camera appearances inspired this natural-born entertainer to take his aspirations to an even higher level. Mauricio continued to develop his signature style of crooning the classics and covers including popular standards immortalized by Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. He soon became known by the nicknames “ELVIS TICO” (Costa Rican Elvis) and “FRANTICO” (Costa Rican SINATRA) throughout the country. Still in his teens, Herrera found himself performing professionally for a variety of television shows, which greatly increased his appeal and garnered him widespread media recognition in Costa Rica. At age 17, he received one of many enormous opportunities being hired and mentored by well- known and highly respected artist, Paco Navarrete. From there on, his star soared to new heights.

Just two years later, this Latino showman seized the opportunity of a lifetime when he became the lead singer and front man for the popular Central American group “Banzai.” This role led to an incredible experience as the opening act for renowned musical artists, such as ENRIQUE IGLESIAS, JOAQUIN SABINA, MIGUEL RIOS AND ALEJANDRO FERNANDEZ, and others.

All the critical recognition he attained thrust Mauricio even further into the limelight and propelled him towards the career he had always dreamed of---having success as a solo act. While such a move is often hit or miss for many recording artists, this decision catapulted Herrera to even greater heights By the end of 2002 Mauricio decided to move back to the United States in pursuit of his biggest dream of all… becoming the most successful Latin entertainer in North America.

Unfortunately, he encountered a major setback in 2005 when his father and manager Carlos Herrera, whom he still refers to as
“his biggest fan,” died after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
After taking some time away to be with his family, Herrera knew that it was time to get his career goals back on track. Realizing that tackling the North American market would take a lot of hard work, Herrera dedicated himself totally
to his craft by improving his performance skills and presentation in English as well as Spanish.

In late 2010, while seeking a viable means of gaining national
television exposure, Mauricio made the decision that would change his life
forever by signing up to audition for NBC’s America’s Got Talent Season 6 thinking that there was no better fast track platform to expose his talent to not only the USA but also the entire world. For the first audition he traveled to Seattle Washington and waited in line for hours just like so many others for a chance to audition in front ofthe Celebrity Judges. His audition was recorded on March 2nd, actually airing on June 7th. He classified and moved on to The Las Vegas Show which took place on May 2011.Despite the fact that he was fighting a bout of the Flu, he made an impression upon all the Judges and was unanimously moved to the Quarter Finals program in Hollywood for the Live Shows. By the time his turn arrived on the Quarter Finals, Mauricio had lost nearly 20 pounds in order to become more “camera friendly” and he had worked long hours improving every single aspect of his performance. In Hollywood he was afforded a wide variety of resources unavailable in previous auditions such as a professional hair and makeup stylist, a stage manager, camera director, choreographer, dancers, back-up vocals, lighting, vocal coaching, professional monitoring and rehearsals. These amenities enhanced both his signature look and his performance levels.

Mauricio’s efforts and sacrifice were evident in the level of confidence he showed when he stepped on the AGT Stage. The Hollywood performance was by far his best to date and his fans agreed. Performing flawlessly a medley of ELVIS PRESLEY’S “Viva Las Vegas” and TOM JONES’S “Delilah”, he literally made the audience along with Judge Howie Mandel stand up cheering him on from start to finish.
Overnight his fan base, Twitter, Facebook and social media numbers skyrocketed! An actual group was formed known as the “Mauri Warriors.”

To date, he has released 3 albums featuring cover songs: “EL ULTIMO BESO” (The Last Kiss) Released in Costa Rica, “ASI ES COMO TE GUSTA?” (Is That How You Like It?) Released in the US and “MAURICIO EN EL NORTE” (Mauricio In The North) also released in the US and one “Ahora!” (Now) featuring his own Original Music.
